Ali Collier

Where are you from and where are you based now?

I’m from Fort Lauderdale, FL and now I am based in Los Angeles, CA.

How did you get scouted?

I actually wasn’t scouted I got signed by going to an open call when I was in high school. It was during Summer break and my family would go to New Jersey during the summer most years which is pretty close to New York City.  So once my mom and I took the train into the city and I went to a few open calls and I ended up getting signed.

Coffee or tea?

Definitely tea!  I am currently obsessed with making matcha lattes with oat milk, but I have always been an avid tea drinker.

What are your top three favorite smells?

Wild Honeysuckle, Daisy perfume by Marc Jacobs and freshly baked cookies.

If you had to be reincarnated as an animal, which would it be?

Probably some type of bird because the idea of flying seems fun.

Single food you can’t live without?

It’s a tie between avocados and sweet potatoes… I am so obsessed with both that my boyfriend has emojis of both of them saved next to my name on his phone.

Name the movie you’ve seen so many times you can almost recite it.

Mean Girls

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I remember I had phases where I wanted to be a few different things.  I wanted to be a vet for a while but then when I realized that would also involve having to put animals down I figured I probably couldn’t handle that job….and then I had a phase where I wanted to be an interior designer when I used to love watching those TV shows where there do house makeovers. The one that I didn’t grow out of wanting to do though is being an actor….hints why I’m living in LA now.

If you could visit anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would it be?

Santorini, Greece

What is the last thing you binge-watched?

I already watched it all when it first came out but I decided to re-binge watch Stranger Things recently.

Describe your dream hair.

I love that cool french girl inspired bob with bangs….Im not sure that it would work with my face shape but I love that look.

What is your favorite everyday go-to hairstyle?

I usually just let my hair air dry and put some hair oil into it and leave it alone.  On days where I shoot they use a lot of heat on it so I try not to do that too often myself unless it’s for a special occasion.

Biggest hair challenge?

I have really thick hair so the challenge with that is just that it takes a long time to style it.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done to your hair?

I went platinum for two years.

Most embarrassing hair moment?

I had a beauty shoot for a magazine once that had an underwater theme where the water was colored different colors to go with the makeup looks. I had to be in a bathtub with the colored water and my hair was in it too and it was when my hair was platinum and bleaching your hair makes it super absorbent so I got out of the water after and my hair was blue. I was able to get the color out later that day but I had to end up using dish soap to get it out! Luckily the photos turned out good so it was worth it haha!

Do you have any favorite hair tools, products or treatments?

Back when I was platinum my hair colorist got me into using Olaplex to help reduce the damage of bleaching it.  Even though I’m not platinum anymore my hair does have some color in and I want to continue to get it stronger from the platinum days so I still do Olaplex treatments on it and I think it helps.  I also love the hair oil by Ouai as its light enough to use daily and it smells so good!  My favorite dry shampoo is the Kristin Ess dry shampoo.

What is your favorite hair trend?

The scrunchie comeback….I just bought some velvet scrunchies and the trend doesn’t require much effort.
