Crystal Van Commenee

Where are you from and where are you based now?

I’m a true Valley Girl.  Currently based in Los Angeles.

How did you get scouted?

I was scouted at an album release concert at a church.

Most memorable modeling experience?

My 1st trip out of state for modeling was really special to me.  I was sent to Miami for development and my mom and little sister came along.  It was a fun time of excitement and anticipation.

I love cooking, baking, fitness and nutrition.  I love a life of balance 🙂

Fun or interesting fact about you?

I can wiggle my ears!  Recently a cashier guessed that I could wiggle my ears based on my smile.

What are your top three favorite smells?

Ice cream waffle cones being made, vanilla extract and fresh laundry.

If you had to be reincarnated as an animal, which would it be?

A wolf.  They have this amazing beauty and power to them that I’ve always admired.

What is the last thing you binge-watched?

Grey’s Anatomy.  I’m almost caught up on season 14 now.  I’ve heard they are coming out with two more seasons so I’m looking forward to that!

Describe your dream hair.

My dream hair would be really healthy with waves that looks flawless every day.

What is your favorite everyday go-to hairstyle?

I put mousse in my hair and let it air dry.  Sometimes I’ll diffuse it to enhance my curls.  I like to keep heat off my hair so that it has time to rest in between photo shoots.

Biggest hair challenge?

Frizz & cowlicks.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done to your hair?

I just dyed it blonde which is a big move for me.  I love my natural hair color so I was a little nervous, but I was just craving something new.  I just wanted to try it so I went for it!

What is your favorite hair trend?

I love that perfectly messy hair.  I think it’s really sexy, yet carefree.

Any secret tips, styling tricks or home remedies you use on your hair?

I really love putting a mix of oils in my hair as a mask the night before or a few hours before washing my hair.  Argan oil and olive oil are the primary oils and I sometimes experiment from there.   Also, if my hair needs a little extra shine throughout the day, I put a little bit of rose oil in my hair.  It’s very light so it doesn’t make my hair look oily and it smells AMAZING!
