How-to: 3 Modern 80’s Hairstyles

Here we share how to achieve 3 modern 80’s inspired hairstyles from our “Work It Out” video!

GET THE LOOK  “Yara”


(Half Up)

  1. Generously spray Paul Mitchell “Hot Off The Press” to dry hair.
  2. Starting at the nape of the neck create a 2″ horizontal parting and secure the rest of the hair with a sectioning clip.
  3. Within that section take 2″ vertical sections and curl using a 1″ curling wand.  Curl each section in the opposite direction than the previous curl.
  4. Repeat until all hair is curled and lightly brush through.
  5. Create a parting from ear to ear going over crown.  Gather hair on top of head at the crown and secure with a hair tie.
  6. Take a small section of the ponytail, wrap it around the hair tie and secure with a hair pin.
  7. Tighten ponytail and work with fingers until you create the desired shape.
  8. Lightly spray with Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray for a shiny texture!

GET THE LOOK  “Jessica”


(Loose Spiral Curl)

  1. Generously spray Paul Mitchell “Hot Off The Press” to dry hair.
  2. Starting at the nape of the neck create a 1.5″ horizontal parting and secure the rest of the hair with a sectioning clip.
  3. Within that section take 1.5″ vertical sections and curl using a 3/4″ curling wand.  Curl each section in the opposite direction than the previous curl making sure to leave ends out.
  4. Repeat until all hair is curled and brush through with fingers to break up curls.
  5. Spray a little Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray and run fingers through for a shiny textured curl!

GET THE LOOK  “Crystal”


(Wet Look)

  1. Start on damp hair.
  2. Spray a leave in conditioner for moisture and lightly comb through with a wide tooth comb.
  3. Fill a spray bottle up with water and a few squirts of a medium hold gel and lightly spray onto dampened hair.
  4. Using only your hands lightly scrunch hair to add a bit of wave.
  5. Create a deep side parting.
  6. Add a medium hold gel to roots at the fringe area and comb hair up and back to one side creating a wave and secure with a setting clip until gel dries.
  7. Once gel has dried remove the setting clip for a voluminous wet look that lasts!
